Health tips for travelers on Korean air flights

Korean Air is the spokesperson for South Korea. It is also considered as the largest airline in South Korea, based in Seoul, South Korea. Korean international flights, as well as their cargo, fly to 130 cities in 45 countries worldwide. Domestic Korean flights serve 20 local destinations. The Korean International Flight Center is located at Incheon International Airport. Korean Air is an original partner of SkyTeam, the second largest alliance for airlines in the world.

If you are traveling large distances by plane on Korean Air flights, it helps to know some health tips to make your flight more comfortable. In-cabin temperature for Koran Air flights stays between 22 and 24, which is a very comfortable temperature. It is still best to wear comfortable clothes that are not too thick, but always have a light sweater or jacket in your carry-on luggage, just in case you are cold.

Humidity inside the cabin of Korean flights is maintained at 15 percent. The comfortable humidity level for the average person is between 50 and 60 percent. The level of 15 percent of Korean Air flights is already considered dry. In dry humidity the moisture in the body tends to evaporate. The skin, as well as the membranes of the eyes and nose also begin to dry out during the flight and can be quite uncomfortable when this happens. The best thing to do during Korean flights is to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, fruit juices or any kind of liquid drinks. Avoid drinking coffee and tea as these drinks can only cause additional dehydration. Passengers with contact lenses should remove them during Korean flights to prevent eye dryness which could cause eye inflammation.

Atmospheric pressure within Korean flights is set at an altitude of 5,000-8,000 feet. There is a tendency for ear deafness to occur. This is due to the change in pressure within Korean Air flights when landing or taking off. To prevent deafening ears chew gum or simply move the jaw up and down as if chewing. You can also try to close your mouth and then pinch your nose as you breathe some air slowly.

Big applications of data science today

Data science is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on searching for valuable information in large, unstructured datasets that are in a raw format. This is done to find patterns and discover ideas. It focuses on finding answers to problems in unknown and unforeseen areas. There are many applications of data science that have a huge impact on human life today. The following are some of the most common applications in the world today and also some advanced applications that will be coming in the future.

There are many search engines used by people all over the world. Some of them are, Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, AOL, etc. These search engines use data science algorithms to provide the user with the best results available in seconds. Thanks to data science, Google can process more than 22 petabytes of data daily.

It plays an important role in digital ads as well as internet search. The display of attractive and colorful digital banners on many websites, digital billboards at railway stations and airports, malls, theaters, etc., are within the spectrum of digital advertising. This is one of the main reasons why digital ads get higher CTR than traditional ads. Ads are targeted based on a user's tastes, tastes, or behavioral patterns.

Recommendations add a lot of user experience. The best example is online shopping. While shopping on an online shopping platform, the user can find similar or relevant products from millions of products available on that platform. It plays an important role by studying the results of a user's previous search and offering recommendations that match that user's interest. Amazon, Netflix, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. are some of the internet giants that use this system to enhance the user experience.

Speech or voice recognition

Writing long messages or emails can be tedious. With voice recognition, a user can speak the message to be sent. It will be converted to text. Cortana, Siri and Google Voice are some of the best examples of voice recognition products in the world today. With data science, the product can learn the user's accent which will increase accuracy. This in turn will deliver better performance. With the help of data science, making notes, sending emails, and setting up reminders can be done effortlessly.

Many airlines have begun to use data science to find strategic ideas and areas for improvement, and by doing so, companies do not have to struggle to maintain their occupancy rate and operating benefits. By using data science, airlines can detect flight delays. Finding the cheapest option between transit flight or direct flight can also be done through data science. With rising fuel prices and huge discounts on airline tickets, data science has become an important requirement among airlines.

Southwest Airlines Operations: A Strategic Perspective

Southwest Airlines is the largest airline measured by the number of passengers carried each year in the United States. Also known as discount airline & # 146; compared to its big rivals in the industry. Rollin King and Herb Kelleher founded Southwest Airlines on June 18, 1971. Their first flights were from Love Field in Dallas to Houston and San Antonio, short breaks with no service, and a simple fare structure. The airline started with a simple strategy: & # 147; If your passengers arrive at their destinations when they want to arrive on time, at the lowest possible rates and make sure they have a good time, people will. fly your airline. & # 148; This approach has been key to Southwest's success & # 146; s. Southwest currently serves about 60 cities (in 31 states) with 71 million passengers transported (in 2004) and a total operating revenue of $ 6.5 billion. The Southwest is publicly traded under the & # 147; LUV & # 148; on the NYSE.

* The first major airline to fly a single aircraft type (Boeing 737s)

* The first major airline to offer a large ticketless travel system, including a frequent flyer program based on the number of trips and the number of miles flown.

* The first airline to offer a benefit-sharing program to its employees (established in 1973).

* The first major airline to develop a website and offer online reservations. In 2001, about 40 percent ($ 2.1 billion) of its passenger revenue was generated through online bookings at (http://www.southwest.com). The cost of Southwest per booking over the Internet is about $ 1, compared to a cost per booking through travel agents from $ 6 to $ 8.

Main competitive advantages:

* Low operating costs / High operating efficiency

* Award winning customer service

* Human resources practices / Work culture

Operations Analysis & # 150; Competitive dimensions:

Southwest clearly has an advantage compared to other airlines in the industry when executing an effective and efficient operating strategy that is an important pillar of its overall corporate strategy. The following are some competitive dimensions that will be studied in this paper.

1. Operational costs and efficiency

2. Customer service

3. Employee / labor relations

4. Technology

1. Operational costs and efficiency

After all, the airline industry in general is in the running. But how does Southwest Airlines remain profitable? Southwest Airlines has the lowest costs and strongest balance sheet in its industry, according to President Kelleher. The two highest operating costs for any airline are & # 150; labor costs (approximately 40%) followed by fuel costs (approximately 18%). Some other ways that Southwest is able to keep its operating costs low are: flying point-to-point routes, choosing secondary (small) airports, transporting consistent aircraft, maintaining high-use aircraft, encouraging sending electronic tickets, and so on.

Labor costs

Labor costs for Southwest typically account for about 37% of its operating costs. Perhaps the most critical element of the success of the low-cost airline business model is achieving significantly higher labor productivity. According to a recent HBS case study, Southwest Airlines are the most unionized & # 147; The US airline (about 81% of its employees belong to a union) and their wage rates are considered above or above average compared to the US airline. The advantage of low-fare carrier work is in much more flexible working standards that allow the cross-use of virtually all employees (except when licensing and security rules are not allowed). This cross-utilization and a long culture of cooperation between the working groups results in lower unit labor costs. In Southwest, in the 4th quarter 2000, total labor cost per available seat mile (ASM) was more than 25% below US and US and 58% lower than US Airways.

Operators like Southwest have a huge cost advantage over network airlines simply because their workforce generates more output per employee. In a 2001 study, Southwest employee productivity was more than 45% higher than in the United States and the United States, despite substantially longer flight times and average aircraft size of these network operators. Therefore, with its relentless pursuit of lower labor costs, Southwest is able to positively impact its revenue.

Fuel costs

Fuel cost is the second highest expense for airlines after labor and accounts for about 18 percent of the company's operating costs. Airlines that want to avoid major changes in operating expenses and bottom line profitability choose to cover fuel prices. If airlines can control the cost of fuel, they can more accurately estimate budgets and revenue forecasts. As competition and air travel grow into a freight business, being competitive in price has been key to any airline's survival and success. It has become difficult to pass on higher fuel costs to passengers by raising ticket prices due to the highly competitive nature of the industry.

Southwest has been able to successfully implement its fuel coverage strategy to save fuel costs in a major way and has the highest coverage position among other carriers. In the second quarter of 2005, the unit costs of Southwest & # 146; s fell 3.5% despite 25% of gas fuel costs. During 2003, Southwest had a much lower fuel cost (0.012 per ASM) compared to other airlines, with the exception of JetBlue, as illustrated in Exhibit 1 below. In 2005, 85 percent of the airline's fuel needs were covered at $ 26 a barrel. World oil prices in August 2005 reached $ 68 per barrel. In the second quarter of 2005 alone, Southwest achieved $ 196 million in fuel savings. The state of the industry also suggests that the airlines that are covered have a competitive advantage over the airlines that do not charge. Southwest announced in 2003 that it would add Blended Winglets to improve performance to its current and future Boeing 737-700 & # 146 fleet; s. Visually distinguishable Winglets will improve performance by expanding the aircraft's reach, saving fuel, reducing engine maintenance costs and reducing take-off noise.

Timely service

Southwest operates its point-to-point flight service to maximize operational efficiency and remain profitable. Most of its flights are short-haul with an average of 590 miles. It uses the strategy to keep its flights in the air more often and thus to make better use of the capacity.

Secondary airports

Southwest flies to secondary / small airports in an effort to reduce travel delays and thus provide excellent service to its customers. Lead industry in timely performance. Southwest has also been able to reduce the costs of airport operations relatively better than its rival airlines.

Consistent aircraft

At the heart of Southwest's success lies its unique aircraft strategy: its fleet consists exclusively of Boeing 737 jets. Having a common fleet significantly simplifies flight scheduling, operations and maintenance. The training costs for pilots, ground crews and mechanics are lower because only one aircraft has to be learned. Purchases, supplies and other operations are also greatly simplified, reducing costs. Consistent aircraft also allow Southwest to use its crew more efficiently.

The idea of ticket-free travel was an important advantage for the Southwest because it could reduce your distribution costs. Southwest became electronic or ticketless in the mid-1990s and is currently approximately 90 to 95% with no ticket entry. Customers who use credit cards are eligible for online transactions, and today Southwest.com bookings account for about 65% of total revenue. Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly thinks this idea would grow even more, and he wouldn't be surprised if the ticket accounted for 75% of Southwest's revenue. s at the end of 2005. In the past, there was a 10% travel agency fee paid, costing about $ 8 a reservation. But Southwest is currently paying between 50 cents and $ 1 per booking for electronic transactions, which translates into huge cost savings.

2. Employee relations and work

Southwest has been highly regarded for its innovative management style. He maintains a relentless focus on high performance relationships and his people management practices have been the key to his unparalleled success in the airline industry.

Mission Statement

For our employees

& # 147; We are committed to providing our employees with a stable work environment with equal opportunities for personal learning and growth. Creativity and innovation are encouraged to enhance the effectiveness of Southwest Airlines. Above all, employees will be provided with the same concern, respect and care within the organization that they are expected to share externally with all Southwest clients. & # 148;

Southwest's mission statement shows that the company has a strong commitment to its employees. The company offers the same respect to its employees as it does to its customers. Southwest's mission statement is unique in that it recognizes the importance of its employees within a broader business strategy, which emphasizes excellent customer service and operational efficiency. Employees receive the respect, loyalty and trust shown by the Southwest. Southwest employees are known for their loyalty, dedication, attitude and innovation. Employees are the differentiating factor between the Southwest and the rest of the airline industry.

Southwest's hiring policy is unique not only in the airline industry, but also broader and revolves around finding people with the right attitude who will thrive in Southwestern culture. For your support is a positive attitude and dedication, extensive procedures are used. Those who do not possess those qualities are removed. Colleen Barrett, a non-operating Southwest official, says

& # 147; Hiring is critical because behavior cannot be institutionalized. Instead, you should identify those people who are already practicing the behaviors you are looking for. Then you can allow employees to be themselves and make customer service decisions based on common sense and their natural inclinations. & # 148; 1

Hiring and interviewing in Southwest is a two-step process. The first step is a group interview, conducted by employees, which assesses the communication skills of potential candidates. The following steps in this process are one in an interview, which assesses the attitudes and orientation of the candidates towards others. These hiring criteria apply to all job functions, as all Southwest employees play a customer service role. A critical part of Southwest's operating strategy is that all of Southwest's work is a customer service position, whether applied directly to the customer or internally.

The following table shows that although Southwest is the most heavily unionized airline, at about 80%, that contract negotiations between the unions and Southwest have a much shorter duration than other major carriers. This shows the quality of Southwest's relationship with its employees and the unions that represent them.

Culture and openness

Southwest was created as a different type of company and from its inception a unique culture has been created. In 1990 Colleen Barrett formed the Southwest Culture Committee. This is unique within the industry and among all large companies. The committee also has a mission statement:

& # 147; The purpose of this group is to help create the spirit and culture of the Southwest where needed; enrich it and make it better where it already exists; and brighten it up in places where it can be "overwhelming." In short, the goal of this group is to do "whatever it takes" to create, enhance and enrich the special Southwestern spirit and culture that has made this such a wonderful company / family. & # 148;

It is this unique approach to company values that has created a culture that differs from others. Southwestern culture & # 146; s is the reason you are successful.

3. Customer Service

The Mission of Southwest Airlines

The mission of Southwest Airlines is the dedication to the highest quality of customer service offered with a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride and company spirit.

Herb Kelleher, founder of Southwest, said, "We are in the customer service business; we simply offer air transportation." 2 Winning customer service is a distinctive feature of Southwest and refers internally to & # 147; Positively outrageous service & # 148 ;. It means that from top to bottom everyone does everything they can to satisfy the customer. This includes Herb Kelleher, who has been known to help luggage handlers on Thanksgiving. It is to emphasize to the customer and employee that Southwest is able to differentiate itself from the others in the airline industry. On a more technical level, every Southwest employee or group has its own customer. This means that all employees & # 145; serve & # 146; in one way or another despite not being directly related to the passenger. The customer of the mechanic is the pilot and the hotelier is the flight attendant.

It can be said that Southwest's exclusive "positively outrageous service" & # 147; it is not the result of a department, or a program, or a mandate from management. It is not secondary to the product; is the product. & # 148; This approach creates the conditions in which employees are most likely to treat customers in a way that sets the company apart from others. There are numerous passenger accounts that have received exceptional treatment from Southwestern employees.

The question that needs to be answered is the difference in Southwest customer service & # 146; s and why? Is it common for customers of other airlines to show their special service? The answer is that it is not. Although Southwest does not have a monopoly on kind people and who are willing to go above and beyond to satisfy a customer, this behavior is largely nurtured in Southwest.

It can then be concluded that customer service that is inherent to Southwest is part of its culture. This culture is supported through the encouragement of employees to make more resources to satisfy the customer. This approach inspires people who usually only occasionally go out of their way to help someone, become consistent performers who deliver exceptional service all the time. Southwest employees are the ones who differentiate customer service from other airlines.

4. Technology

Southwest uses technology in many ways to meet its business goals and maintain efficient operations. According to its CEO, technology equals productivity. Launched in 1996, the Southwest first introduced ticketless travel. On May 1, 2000, Southwest Airlines introduces "SWABIZ", a portal that helps company travel managers book and track trips made through its website (http://www.southwest.com). There are many new technology initiatives underway and some are underway.

Bar codes on boarding passes

Southwest Airlines has invested $ 12 million over the past three years to standardize corporate and terminal operations on nearly 10,000 Dell OptiPlex desktop and Latitude laptops, according to company executives. Southwest wanted to replace its well-known, brightly colored plastic boarding cards with an electronic system with barcode boarding cards. So it has installed about 350 touch screen banknote readers powered by Dell OptiPlex desktops. The barcode provides more southwest information to automatically match the number of boarding passes with the number of passengers actually boarding the aircraft.

While the technology will help Southwest Airlines stay efficient by consolidating passenger information for the company's 3,000 daily flights, there were issues that could lengthen the time for passengers on board. However, it was found that searching for each barcode on boarding cards did not increase or shorten boarding schedules, but minutes of administrative processes passed, such as searching for customer records. The new paper barcode system is giving Southwest ticket agents the ability to combine customer registration within having to scroll and register on multiple software screens. The process is much more automated. Once the boarding pass barcode is scanned at the terminal door, check the person on the passenger list in real time.

The old process was a manual that involved searching for information, going through various software screens from reservations to check-in to boarding. Barcode hardware has been deployed to scan boarding cards. The company is in the process of replacing customer service office equipment at airports, including its Dallas headquarters.

Software updates

Software applications, such as those used by employees for passenger check-in, are replaced. Expected to launch Southwest Airlines "Airport Application Suite" next year, the company will switch from green screens to the Window-based user interface. Similar to Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Southwest Airlines believes in developing in-house software that manages its operations. The company uses very little off-the-shelf software. Each year there are between 75 and 100 projects in projects supported by approximately 900 IT staff.

Radiofrequency identification technology, a favorable bar-coding alternative to suitcase identification, is also on the Southwest radar. It plans to test RFID technology sometime in 2006. Although, Southwest is playing a bit of a day with other airlines such as Air Tran, Alaska and Champion Airlines, in many cases they are able to jump to more sophisticated applications easily expecting more. time.

The Southwest has emerged very successful, despite the most troubled times in the airline market. However, it faces new challenges in the face of increased competition from other low-cost airlines such as JetBlue, ATA Airlines, America West.

Reserved places

As safety guidelines have increased since September 2001, Southwest will need to prepare for (reserved) seating to track its passengers during the flight. This change will mean large investments in technology and could adversely affect the operations of its doors, as the current form of unassigned seats has helped in rapid gate changes.

Demand for passengers

The "Keep-it-simple" philosophy served the Southwest well. But as its own business grows and becomes more complex, with plans to buy dozens of new aircraft and an expected increase in passenger traffic to about 80 million boarding & # 146; one year, the simplicity strategy reflected in the evolving airline's IT philosophy. CIO Tom Nealon says "It's time to adapt business processes for efficiency. As our airline scales to provide the same high-level customer service, we have to automate many things we could do without technology beforehand. The challenge is to do this without giving the customer the touch. " Southwest is also aggressively pursuing customer relationship management (CRM) techniques and has applications to meet customers' wants and dislikes. According to an interview with its CEO Gary Keller, Southwest is focused on improving in two areas: airport experience and customer flight experience & # 146;

In-flight entertainment

In a global effort to improve customers' in-flight experience, in-flight entertainment is something Southwest is currently valuing and JetBlue has been very successful since its introduction to long-haul flights. By comparison, Southwest has 415 aircraft to consider and this is an investment decision in a whole new dimension. In addition, Southwest has to consider how things can fit into their environment. Right now, 60% of your service is still very short. Southwest needs to be aware that a particular approach that has been successful for its competitor may not necessarily be the one to benefit.

Southwest has long been regarded as a benchmark in its industry for operational excellence. Southwest Airlines is a good example of a company that is committed to its core competencies – efficient operations to drive its low-cost structure, excellent customer service delivery and innovative HR management practices. We hope this article has a good overview of Southwest operations, as part of their overall strategy, to achieve success and gain competitive advantage.

Importance of scanning at airports for flight information

In this age of technology, digital innovation is engaging customers and enhancing their worldwide experience; the same goes for the aviation industry. Remarkably, the flight information of the airlines offers details on the different flights operated by different airlines of the world. Specifically, digitizing flight tickets makes them popular with travelers around the world, as it allows them to plan the trip and book flights accordingly.

The digitized flight information of modern times helps passengers in several ways:

  • Pre-booking and online travel
  • Luggage and security, validation and check-in
  • Passenger search and airport services
  • Doors, lounges and boarding
  • Assistance while on board
  • Assistance during arrivals and immigration

Digital signage hardware

To ensure the smooth running of the aviation industry, digital signage hardware is of utmost importance. It controls messaging from a centralized location, influences the customer by enabling content based on viewer functions, and combines their online strategy with store-by-store. The hardware is effective in increasing sales through displays for advertising use in various specific situations. Preferably, they include the time travelers are waiting in the departure lobby, baggage claim area, bus and train platform, and so on. It also integrates real-time information like social media, special ads, traffic information, time and more.

Digitalization in the aviation industry

Scanning is also crucial for tracking passengers through their smartphones through the airport journey. Whether it's an exit door, tailgate or parking lot, scanning has paved its way everywhere. It is equally effective in creating new business opportunities through competition to engage with travelers based on their respective locations. The versatile digital signage offers a unique solution for collecting relevant information related to airport and passenger services. Some of the important types of information include:

  • Trigger / event and location information
  • Schedule information
  • Personalized marketing / data related to boarding pass information and age / gender information
  • Classification and count of passengers
  • A collection of all customer-based data in a central customer database for further processing.

Airport application for flight information

The airport application needs time for passengers who want information on flight details, tickets and other services. Avoid being in the long queue and taking in the desired information in seconds. Some of its beneficial features are:

  • Manage your account and register by step
  • Wi-Fi access in the terminal
  • Flight search, display and view flight information, includes flight to private calendar
  • Information on season tickets, discounts and offers
  • Service catalog, purchase and search services, payment provider incorporation
  • Offers, information and services based on the intended location of the user, flights stored as well as other contextual information
  • Virtual tour and maps

Consider these travel tips next time you ski in Vermont

I have been skiing for sixteen years. I would hardly call myself a great skier, but then again, I would say I can hold my own in a variety of races, including black diamond double traitors. Okay, they are not treacherous unless you have never been skiing before, in which case you are likely to get killed if you go down one. They are very challenging but the Vermont ski resorts have some very good ones.

Although I really enjoy skiing in Stowe, which is in northern central Vermont, my favorite black diamond race is in Killington, called Outer Limits. It is a very wide race, with good bumps and if you get up early enough in the morning you can get some good fresh snow.

However, I tend to stay away from mopeds these days, while skiing more to relax to stay cool and fresh from Green Mountain State. I will make some black diamonds, but it will be limited mainly to blue mail. I think my knees, quadriceps and hamstrings will last throughout the day.

That said, I have some tips if you are planning a ski trip to Vermont. Regardless of which ski resort you go to, Okemo, Killington, Stowe, Sugarbush, and the list goes on and on, try and ski throughout the week. Monday through Thursday and the occasional Friday have very light traffic on the tracks. Which makes sense as most people are working or in my case should be working.

If you are staying in a hotel, lodging, motel or lodging, ask the receptionist or host if they have discount tickets. Most, if not all of Vermont's resorts, offer some sort of lift ticket discount. So unless you really want to pay full price, ask for the discount. It usually goes for about $ 5 to $ 10, but you can get lucky when they do special promotions and get a bigger discount.

If you have to ski on the weekends, try some of the smaller ski resorts. What I've found is that most locals stay away from larger resorts on weekends to avoid the crowd (they don't know what the crowd is until they forget about the Poconos in the mountains of eastern Pennsylvania on a Saturday). Smaller resorts are usually cheaper and although they do not have as many races as the larger ones, the slopes they offer are challenging for even the smartest skier. You can do the travel and tourism division of Google Vermont and they should be able to send you a complete list of all the ski resorts in your state.

Like most ski resorts and Vermont are no different, ski when everyone is having lunch and go to lunch when everyone is on the slopes. The normal lunch time is from eleven and four and five until two in the afternoon. This is when lodges have most people sitting down to eat. I recommend going to the slopes as soon as they open (usually around 8am) and then having lunch from eleven o'clock and ending at eleven and forty five. As everyone goes to you.

Even with all the best tips in the world you will find it on many occasions. Don't let it bother you and remember that you are in Vermont, on vacation skiing some of the best mountains in the world.

The difference between finding a cheap home price versus a cheap international airfare

Although US domestic airfares are much more volatile (that is, prices change quite a bit more often) the price difference between major travel sites such as Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia and airlines sites is usually no higher. at 10-20%. National airline ticket sellers fall into almost 2 categories: (1) airlines and (2) online travel agencies. There are some niche players, but they serve a very small market. Therefore, when shopping for home air operations, the "when to buy" is usually more important than the "where to buy".

The opposite is true when getting an international business. The "when to buy" is still important (as you don't wait until the last minute), but the "where to buy" is much more important. This is because airfare to Europe, Asia, Africa and South and Central America is somewhat less volatile (they may not change frequently), but the price difference between different providers can sometimes be up to 50% or more. There are several reasons for this, but the two main reasons are (1) the type of fees offered and (2) the number of players on the field.

The type of rates

Without being too technical, there are basically 2 types of international airfare; published and unpublished. 97% of leisure rates (gift or take) are published on the domestic market. A published rate that you can call a retail rate. The airline creates the fare and rules associated with that fare and then publishes the information through a clearing house called ATPCo (Airline Tariff Publishing Company). ATPCo distributes the fee to global distribution systems. Online and offline travel agencies recover these published rates through one or more of these systems. Everyone has access to the rate. A new fee (also called a negotiated rate) is still released through ATPCo but part of the "fee rules" is an indicator that the seller is allowed to access and sell the rate. It is essentially a private fare. Another difference is that the published fares have to be sold at the price determined by the airline (no markings or discounts) while a private fare can be marked. That's why you see online and offline agencies add a price for any service between $ 5 and $ 50 to a published fare ticket. With a negotiated fare, the airline will receive a set amount and allow the seller to set (add margin) to that fare. Thus, a seller can negotiate a $ 300 fare from New York to London with the airline X and then mark it and sell it for $ 345. Another visible difference between a negotiated fare and a published one is the fact that many (almost all) negotiated air tickets will not see the actual price you paid for the ticket. Instead, you will see a much higher rate or just tax information. Published fare tickets will show exactly what you paid for the ticket (excluding service charges). As a general rule, negotiated fare tickets are often cheaper than published fare tickets (there are cases where an airline may have a "fire sale" that lowers the negotiated fare levels) and so "the place" it is more important than "the time" when it comes to buying international air tickets.

Travel Sellers

International airfare sellers fall into the following broad categories:

(1) Major airlines

(2) Charter airlines

(3) Online travel agencies

(4) Offline travel agencies

(5) Global consolidators selling to the public

(6) Global consolidators that do not sell to the public

(7) Ethnic consolidators or specialist destinations

(8) Student travel consolidators

(9) Tour operators

Major Airlines

These are the carriers we all know as American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Lufthansa, British Airways, KLM and many more. They offer air fares through their own website and many of the other vendors listed above. They can offer special offers on their own page. They do not charge any service fees.

Charter Airlines

In Europe this type of airline is much more common than in the United States. A letter is basically when a tour operator "rents" or "rents" a plane to fly tourists from their departure airport to the destination airport. There are some airlines that service from and to the US that have their roots in the charter business. They offer regular year-round or seasonal service to and from selected US airports to a single country. They are FAA approved and must comply with all airline safety rules and regulations. What sets them apart is their business model that allows them to sell normally cheaper seats than larger ones. Some of these alternative airlines are LTU, Condor, FlyGlobespan or Martinair to name a few. They also usually do not charge a service fee.

Travel agencies online

Players in this category are Travelocity, Orbitz, Cheaptickets, Expedia, Priceline, Hotwire and so on. They sell published and unpublished air tickets. They charge a service fee. They also often sell you other travel components such as hotel accommodation, car rental, attraction tickets and / or travel insurance. Going abroad for a holiday by buying a package (where the seller will include an air component with one or more land components) can be an option and can save you money. In a future article I will cover the pros and cons of packages.

Offline travel agencies

The so-called brick-and-mortar travel agencies, these are the traditional agencies you would come in, sit down and book your trips. Depending on the size and target market, they may also double as an ethnic consolidator or destination specialist. They also have access to consolidation rates that are not offered directly to the general public. Brick and mortar agencies almost always charge a service fee.

Global consolidators that sell directly to the public

Often these are travel agencies that have decided to "cut the middleman" and go straight to the airlines to negotiate their own private fares. This allows them to sell at a lower price without losing their margin. For decent private rates, a global consolidator would have to offer $ 100 million + in annual agency sales. Most traded tickets are sold without a service charge. If a consolidator sells a published fee they will regularly add a service charge.

Global consolidators that do not sell directly to the public

In the days before internet travel online, few agencies would act as their own consolidator. Instead, they worked through intermediaries (consolidators) who negotiated deals with the airlines. A consolidator would negotiate that same $ 300 deal mentioned above, add their margin to sell it to a retail agency. The retail agent would add his margin and sell to the public. When the Internet came to fruition, the agencies could reach a much larger audience and thus gain the opportunity to negotiate directly with the airlines. However, there are still many agencies, both offline and online, that offer intermediary consolidation overhead rates. Due to the low volume of consolidators that an airline can offer, these fares could still be a deal even after several hikes.

Ethnic consolidators or specialist destinations

These are probably one of the least known sources (by the general public) of cheap airline tickets. They are also some of the hardest to find. The United States is a nation of immigrants, and ethnic consolidators have traditionally served their former patriot or immigrant community. They have been and continue to be cheap sources for airfare back to the country of origin. Unlike global consolidators that can exceed $ 250 million in sales a year, these ethnic outlets can only reverse $ 2-5 million a year, but most can go to 1 or 2 carriers. They are highly specialized and have long lasting relationships with their preferred carriers. These long-term trust relationships are the reasons why some mom and pop operations are able to secure airfares that are 20-30% lower than any of the online mega agencies. Destination specialists are similar to ethnic consolidators in terms of size and style. They became true experts in a country or region and built relationships. The difference is that they are often directed at the foreign independent traveler (FIT). As I mentioned, the passenger deals that some of these outlets can often offer are hard to beat, but the challenge is finding them. Google and Yahoo and any of the other search engines often don't find them.

Student travel consolidators

As the name suggests, they are student-directed (and in some cases faculty) agencies. Like a global consolidator, they approach airlines and negotiate special discounts or private rates. The difference is that, according to the airline agreement, they can only be sold to bona fide students (and teachers). Often, students have to be enrolled in an accredited college or university and high school students are not eligible. The same goes for teachers. Some agencies are better than others at making sure the person buying the ticket is actually a student.

Tour operators

Tour operators are entities that sell all-inclusive vacation packages, etc. They negotiate deals with airlines, hotels, land operators, etc., packing them together, selling them as a product to the public. Occasionally they will sell only the plane (at prices below the rock) to fill empty seats on the plane. Since they have a fixed price they have to pay the aircraft operator, any empty seat is a missed opportunity. The best opportunity to get one of these cheap seats is usually to the Caribbean or Mexico.

Sources for international airfare deals are plentiful. Finding the right one at the right time can make the difference if you get a good rate or a lot. While getting an airline business is often the result of (lucky) time to get a big international deal, it is often the result of knowing where to look.

LAX to SFO flights – The fastest route from LA to SF

The easiest way to find flights from LAX to SFO is to use a travel fare aggregation site and enter your departure and return dates. You can specify whether you want to search for cheap flights or business class flights.

There are several airlines that offer this route between the two popular California cities. Typically, the cheapest time to book a non-stop flight is approximately 17 to 21 days in advance. For connecting flights, it is actually cheaper to book 90 days in advance. There is usually not much difference in price between buying a round trip flight and a round trip flight.

California is a big state – there are 347 miles between Los Angeles and San Francisco. A nonstop flight is usually less than an hour and a half. LAX to SFO flights are the cheapest in July and October and the most expensive in June. The price is consistent over the other months.

Some of the many airlines that offer flights include:

• United Airlines

• American Airlines

• Alaska Airlines

• AeroMexico

• Virgin America

• Airlines in Ethiopia

• All Nippon airways

• Singapore Airlines

• JetBlue

• WOW Air

• Border

• Delta

United provides almost 1/3 of the direct flights. Seattle, WA is the most popular connecting city for the flight. Wednesday is the busiest day to fly to SFO from LAX. The most reliable airlines that have the highest percentage of punctual arrivals to SFO are Delta, American and Alaska Airlines.

Car rental after your flight

There are many options for car rental and public transportation to help the airport to your hotel in San Francisco. You can even combine car rental and hotel room with the price of the ticket. It is sometimes cheaper to do this than to try to reserve everything separately. There are tons of cheap hotels and inns. SF is an amazing city with must-see sights such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and Alcatraz Prison.

Should you leave your car behind in Los Angeles? Parking at LAX is reasonably priced. The airport offers short, long-term and economical parking options. If you prefer to take public transport, you can call one of the several taxi companies serving the airport or take a free shuttle from the green subway station.

LAX to SFO flights are available all day and night, so there is room for flexibility. You should easily find an affordable plane ticket, regardless of your itinerary. Although last minute discounts are few, you never know when you might show up.

Use the Travelocity search feature to search and compare discount flights from LAX to SFO. The site is very user friendly and you can plan your entire trip. You can also get car rental and rental with Travelocity coupon codes.

Cheap offers for your flight

Travel agents and airlines offer a variety of flight deals for most destinations, making it easy for travelers to choose which ones are most comfortable. To get the cheapest flight deals, you can opt for cheaper one way flights. The fares to different destinations can be determined by calculating the number of stops made by the flight and this will ensure that what you get is the cheapest fare. If it is possible to fly by the wayside and still save money, this may be your choice of flight.

There are people who find cheap and very affordable flight deals when choosing to travel, using flight deals that offer the opportunity to accommodate options in several cities. This type of search on different websites helps you get the most out of the offers and is an effective way to save money along the way. While using booking engines to get a deal that looks good, you should make sure you check the airline's website as well, as there may be other offers that are far lower than expected.

The best deals on airlines are also easily found when travelers check the prices of airports closest to the destination or departure city. Sometimes, the larger the airport, the more likely it is that air fares will be more expensive. By being flexible enough to fly from cheaper airports near you, you can get cheaper tickets. It is also important to check which days of the week and times of day attract the lowest fares on your flight tickets. As long as you are flexible with your travel time, you can put a lot of effort into using the dates available on the websites.

Since prices tend to fluctuate in short periods, be sure to check out the same business several times a day. The information you received earlier in the day may change in a positive way, giving you the opportunity to take advantage of cheaper deals. As long as you are willing to do a thorough research dedicated to getting the best deals for a particular flight, it is possible to travel without having to exceed budget limits.
